Prints / Before you Know It

My work is about process, with the intention of preserving the spontaneity of the gesture. I start out with a few forms and a palette using colored cardboard and paper cut-outs. I assemble these forms – or, rather, I let them assemble – and “before you know it,” the construction morphs into another series of forms, leading the way to balance and completion.
This work will often lead to the creation of my larger painted (or cut-out) works.
Each piece measures 13x17 inches.

Prints / Yoruba

The Yoruba series is a portfolio of ten digital pieces printed on archival fine art paper, inspired by African textiles and masks from southwestern Nigeria and Benin.
The originals textures were created in black and white with India ink on textured paper, and then colorized digitally. That process allows me to individually control the color and texture of each component of the piece.
Each piece measures 16x20 inches.
