Sculptures

Sculptures / Dogon

The Dogon sculptures are an ongoing series made from pods that I have been collecting for years in my neighborhood drawn by their sculptural aspect.
The decorative motifs are inspired by those of the Dogon ethnic group from Mali in West Africa.

Sculptures / First Step

By working with natural elements, I try to find the right balance between a certain creative intervention and respect for the raw state of the object.
This process then helps me to achieve greater pieces.

Sculptures / I will hug you later

At the beginning of our confinement (in France); and once the panic dropped a little, I thought that although having no access to my studio and very few tools, I was in the ideal situation to “produce Art”… I was “free to create”!
In fact things don't work that way (at least not for me!).
I tried to analyze the reasons why I did not embark on a "frantic and extraordinary" production during these times.
The fact is that I don't really believe in “inspiration”; this sort of “enlightenment” that would come to you as if by magic...
On the contrary, I need the “movement of the world” and the look of others to be able to move further with my work.
So I started producing these series of “visual Haikus” called "I will hug you later”, some of which will certainly become larger pieces.
The title is a reference to the impossibility that we have to get closer to each other in this period of pandemic.
